Our Mission
The mission of Texans for Health Access is to protect insured Texans from ever-evolving health insurance barriers and loopholes that interfere with their access to the appropriate treatments and care prescribed by their healthcare providers.
Our work centers around:
- Raising awareness of the issues and their impact on patients among Texas policymakers and thought-leaders
- Advocating for policy solutions
- Providing insights to regulators
- Engaging to ensure patients are heard
Our History

Our Mission
Texans for Health Access evolved from previous ad-hoc coalition efforts that brought our patient groups and healthcare providers organizations together to advocate for policy changes that improve the lives of Texans.
From pursuing legislation to reform insurers' step therapy and prior authorization policies, to restricting the use of copay accumulator adjustment programs, to seeking to allow patients to remain on effective treatments that are working to keep them healthy and productive, our coalition recognizes that we must remain vigilant and work collaboratively to protect patients against health plan and PBM profit schemes, which frequently create barriers to appropriate care and treatment for insured Texans.
